From September 16 to 18, we had the opportunity to attend America’s Food & Beverage Show & Conference in Miami, USA. We were selected as one of four European companies to attend the joint mission to Miami.

At the conference, we connected with various government organizations, such as USDA representatives from Wisconsin, New York, and Colorado, as well as Spanish government organizations focused on supporting farmers, along with producers from Central and South America. This experience gave us a deeper insight into international markets and a much greater understanding of the U.S. market, which differs significantly from the European one.

It was also a pleasure to meet other small and medium-sized enterprises from Europe on this joint internationalization mission in the U.S.:

We also had the chance to meet Vanessa Aflalo one of the owners of Green Tomato Market, a platform similar to ours in Osijek, which likewise helps small producers sell their products online. From them, we learned that subscription boxes of seasonal fruits and vegetables are the most popular in the U.S., whereas ordering specific items, common in Europe, is not a typical practice.

We were delighted to taste exotic tropical fruits at the “Robert is Here” stand, which were nothing short of extraordinary, especially for our Slavonian taste buds. We got to know the Moehling family, the stand's owners, who introduced us to various previously unknown fruits, such as jackfruit, monstera (fruit), pitaya, papaya, Thai bananas, and more. It was fascinating to meet a small producer engaged in farming since 1959 right in the heart of a metropolitan area like Miami.

We’re still full of impressions, new knowledge, connections, and hope!
